2006 SCORE Small Business Award Winner

Cape Cod SCORE presented its 13th annual Small Business Owner of the Year award to George F. Davis, owner of George Davis Builders, Inc of South Dennis, Mass., who was selected from among SCORE’s business counseling organization’s small business clients.
When George first visited the SCORE office in March of 2002 he had been working as a building contractor for over 10 years, starting with, as he put it, “a truck and a tool belt.” He came in seeking advice of how to grow his business. His enterprise has since evolved into a residential design/build construction company focusing on additions, renovations and a select number of new homes. In addition, he is in the process of opening a kitchen and bath showroom to better serve his customers. He now has 13 employees and a full complement of experienced and reliable sub-contractors. George attributes his success to his ability to assemble a quality team of people and make them aware of the importance of focusing on respect for the client’s needs. In his spare time George also serves as the President of the Homebuilders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod. George, his wife Beth, and their five school-age children reside in Yarmouthport.
